Experience the western holiday of your dreams! Drowsy Water Ranch has been in existence for over 65 years and is situated in the Granby Valley in the middle of a maple grove. The owners have been offering ranch holidays at the highest level for 20 years. Neither children nor adults are ever bored here! In addition to families, couples, groups and single travellers are welcome! All accommodations (log cabins and guest rooms) have been completely renovated in recent years.
From the first moment you will feel at home on the ranch and in the great surroundings. Switch off from everyday stress and noise in the city! Everything on the ranch is within walking distance: the accommodations, the main building, the children´s playground, the fish pond and the swimming pool. The main building is the meeting point for everyone, the doors are always open and there is always a full pot of coffee waiting for you. You can also relax in the evening with a game of cards, read a good book or simply chat with new friends.

Itinerary

Riding and more:
The approximately one hundred horses of the Drowsy Water Ranch are mainly from our own breeding and there is the right mount for every ability and preference. Daily lessons on the riding ground and guided rides are offered. Especially experienced riders will really enjoy the varied terrain around the ranch! On request, trekking rides lasting several days with pack horses can be organized (not included in the tour price).
Besides riding, there are many other leisure activities to choose from: Swimming in the pool, relaxing in the Jacuzzi, fishing, evening entertainment, games, square dancing, jeep trips, campfires, hay rides, movie nights, rodeos, river rafting and golf. Every day you decide anew what and how much you want to do. Your offspring will be in the best of hands when it comes to children´s riding and other children´s programmes!

Sample Itineary

Day 1: Arrival
Arrival in the afternoon after 3pm. Get to know other guests and get settled into your cabin or rooms. In the evening welcome dinner followed by ranch orientation of the weekly program.

Day 2: Introduction
The fisrt day you are getting paired with your horses and saddling up for the first time this week. After lunch you are taking a second trial ride, or participate in a looping clinic. In the evening after dinner get ready for an exciting night of country dance in the Teepee Dancehall, so bring your dancing shoes and your country moves.

Day 3: Rafting & Ranch Activites
Today after breakfast you can take a guided rafting trip on the Colorado river, join a mountain bike tour or participate an half day trail ride. In the evening after a full day of excitement the adults can enjoy a quiet and relaxing dinner while the kids go on a hayride and have a campfire.

Day 4: Ranch Activities
Today you can again cshoose from a wide variety of activites. Take a half-, or all-day trail ride, particpate a loping clinic, go fly fishing (extra costs) or take a yoga class. the day ends with a grand carnival in the Teepee building.

Day 5: Breakfast Ride & Ranch Activites
The day starts early with the beautiful Colorado summer day with a morning horseback ride to the top of the mountain, overlooking the Rocky Mountains. After breakfast we have a professional photographer take family photos. The afternoon comes with options to mountain bike, hike, grow your horseback riding skills, setting out to one of the surrounding golf courses, or just simply relaxing at the ranch. At night, it is the adults turn for a hayride while the children have an epic game night.

Day 6: Ranch Activites & Optional Zip Lining
Today is the day to get your adrenaline pumping. We have zip lining 290 feet over the top of Drowsy Water Ranch (extra cost). We also have rodeo practice in our arena with an obstacle course to really test the horseback riding skills you have been learning all week. To end the exciting day, we have our Staff Talent Show in our theatre, including music by The Drowsy Players. The show ends with Awards given to guests after the week spent at our ranch. You don’t want to miss this!

Day 7: Departure
On the last day you can take one last trail ride in the morning, before starting your journey back home.

Accomodation

The accommodations also meet high standards and are comfortably furnished in western style. With the good mountain air in addition, you won´t sleep better anywhere! All log cabins and rooms have recently been completely renovated and have their own bathroom. Whether you come as a couple, family or group, there is a suitable accommodation for everyone!
At Drowsy Water Ranch we are very proud of our good and traditional cuisine. Many dishes are prepared according to old family recipes and only the best and freshest ingredients are used. Bread and cakes are always homemade. Most meals are served in the cosy dining room, but when the weather is fine you can often feast outside, for example at a breakfast on a mountain top, a midday picnic or a barbecue. If you have special eating habits, e.g. vegetarian, please let us know when booking. The team at Drowsy Water Ranch will then do their best to fulfill your wishes!
