Beschreibung & Reiseverlauf

The ranch is located at the foot of the Purcell Mountain Range amidst lush meadows on the St. Mary River, a horse paradise about 2 hours south of Banff National Park and 3 hours northwest of Waterton & Glacier National Park in Alberta. Among the approximately 120 horses at the ranch, there is a horse for every rider and every level. Not only will they look for the right horse for your stay, they will also find the saddle you feel most comfortable on. On the almost endless grounds of the ranch you might also meet the approx. 140 cattle of the operating family, which move freely on the area during the summer months.

Reiseverlauf

Riding offer:
The ranch offers lessons for beginners and advanced riders as well as wonderful rides in the Canadian nature. These are led by experienced and certified wranglers and are offered in the mornings and afternoons in smaller groups with a maximum of 6 guests, as well as usually once a week a day and breakfast ride with picnic. Deep pine forests, wild river valleys and flowering meadows provide a wonderful riding area and often cross-country or along trails. Experience the Canadian countryside from a different perspective, with great opportunities to spot native wildlife. The riders are divided into groups according to their riding level, so that advanced riders can enjoy a brisker pace with gallops and the less experienced riders can also get their money´s worth without being overwhelmed. Example week:
Sunday
Arrive and check in at the ranch. Move into your cabin and go exploring the beautiful surroundings. You can also have a look at the horses. The bar opens at 6 pm and the guests and hosts get to know each other before dinner is served at 7 pm. A briefing for the week will give you all the information you need before you relax in the evening.
Monday
After breakfast we finally go to the horses. Everybody gets the right horse and then it´s off to the first morning introductory ride. In time for lunch you will be back at the ranch. In the afternoon you have the choice of another ride into the Canadian countryside or you can join a guided hike to the Perry Creek Waterfall in the Purcell Mountains. The view of the waterfall compensates for the steeper parts of the hike. Back you can relax a little before dinner is served at 18:30. And if you still want to be active, you can take part in a volleyball game.
Tuesday
Today´s ride also starts after breakfast. The riders will be divided into groups according to their riding level, so that advanced riders can enjoy a brisker pace with occasional gallops. The less experienced riders will also get their money´s worth without being overtaxed. Lunch at the ranch. In the afternoon you have the choice of either taking another ride or joining the St. Mary Rafting excursion (included in season B). Experience the Canadian landscape from a different perspective with great opportunities to see the native wildlife. There is time for a dip in the pool or hot tub before dinner is served.
Wednesday
This morning the breakfast ride takes place. Around 8:30 am you start on a short ride where a warm breakfast awaits you in the middle of nature. It tastes twice as good out here!
Afterwards you will be well strengthened for the morning ride. Lunch will be served as usual at the ranch. Also in the afternoon the riding is in the foreground. Experience Canada´s nature from a horse. Accompanying non-riders can, for example, try out clay pigeon shooting under supervision today. But there are also various other options, such as designated hiking trails, mountain bike tours, tennis, golf or a relaxing massage. After dinner, a reining demonstration awaits you today. Experience what is possible with a well trained western horse and the interaction of horse and rider as a team.
Thursday
In the morning as well as in the afternoon we go on beautiful rides always in a slightly different direction. Optionally in the afternoon a rafting trip is offered.
In the evening you can end the day with a good meal at the campfire.
Friday
Today you will go on a full day ride, whereby you will penetrate deeper into nature. At noon you will stop at a river, a truly idyllic place for lunch. In the afternoon you will reach the ranch again. The last dinner together is a steak BBQ followed by a Casino Night. Exchange the experiences of the day with the other guests while enjoying a good steak.
Saturday
Breakfast and subsequent departure.

Subject to change due to unforseeable incidents.

Further offers:
Outside of the riding program you will have plenty of time to explore the surrounding national parks, relax or try one of the other activities. Choose from river rafting, fly fishing, hiking, tennis and mountain biking. There are also 18-hole golf courses nearby (for a fee). The ranch has its own shop where everything a real cowboy needs is offered. Traditional boats for horseback riding can also be rented.
