Experience an unforgettable riding holiday on South Africa's Wild Coast. Discover the untamed, unspoilt wilderness of Africa on South Africa's Wild Coast! The varied riding terrain invites you to enjoy exciting and athletic rides along breathtaking, rocky cliffs, through gentle, wooded hills in the picturesque hinterland and across wide, golden sandy beaches! Approximately 50 horses live on the traditional South African farm, including riding horses, broodmares, stallions, young animals and a considerable variety of bird species. You will spend 5 nights there. You will spend another 2 nights in a hotel – so you don't have to pack your suitcases every night!

Itinerary

Day 1: You will land in East London at approximately 11:30 a.m. (transfer at 11:45 a.m./12:00 p.m.). Private transfers at other times are also available at an additional cost (upon request). The drive to Kei Mouth and the farm takes approximately one hour. After the tour briefing, you will set off on horseback in the afternoon for a short ride (approx. one hour) and explore the 400-hectare farm with its rich bird life and small wildlife. Today you will have the opportunity to try your first gallop on the beach! After a relaxed dinner, you will retire to your room in the cosy guest house.

Day 2: Early in the morning, a cup of fresh coffee or tea will get you going before you sit down together for a leisurely continental breakfast. Then your riding adventure begins – don't forget your swimwear! You will have time to get to know your horse while enjoying the beautiful landscape and riding through a small Xhosa village. You will search for hidden romantic waterfalls, ride over rolling hills and finally reach the beach. You will gallop along the beach until you reach today's picnic spot. You will take a break at a waterfall and maybe even have the chance to swim! After a delicious refreshment, you will set off again on horseback to explore the countryside and search for more beautiful waterfalls. You will reach sandy beaches that invite you to enjoy a nice, brisk gallop, and ride over hilly terrain and through small villages before returning to the guest house for dinner together.

Day 3: Today you set off in the opposite direction and explore the beautiful Morgan Cliff. From there you have a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. You are truly at the edge of Africa and can enjoy the view from your horse in peace and quiet. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to stop at the famous Yellowwood Forest Restaurant. This eco-friendly restaurant is known for its cosiness and delicious wood-fired pizza. Then you will mount your horse once more and gallop along the beach one last time before returning your horses to the paddocks and looking forward to a delicious dinner.

Day 4: Today you have several options to choose from: a day ride along the coast with a lunch break at a pub. Alternatively, you can take part in a unique jeep safari and elephant interaction in the Big Five Reserve (at an additional cost – approx. £170 for the trip, lunch and transfer to the reserve, payable on site) or other activities such as a boat trip or a township tour.

Day 5: Your beach adventure with an overnight stay at the beautiful Wavecrest Hotel begins. Today you will spend the whole day on horseback exploring the coast. The scenery along the way is breathtaking. You have a good chance of catching a glimpse of dolphins gliding through the water as you gallop along the beach. Today, you will have a picnic lunch. You will have time to soak up the sun and enjoy yourself before heading back. End the perfect day of riding with well-chilled sunset drinks on the terrace while the crowned cranes circle above you. Dinner and overnight stay at the Wavecrest Hotel.

Day 6: Today's ride (approx. 3 hours) depends on the tides, as you will have to cross several rivers. You continue riding up the coast through gently rolling countryside and along golden sandy beaches, passing through small villages that live from agriculture and pretty little coastal resorts. At low tide, firm sandy beaches offer plenty of space for cheerful, extended gallops. You will return to the hotel around midday. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to explore the impressive mangrove forests along the Nxaxo River by boat or go fishing. You can also simply relax in the spa (sauna, steam bath) or jacuzzi, treat yourself to a massage, manicure or pedicure (not included). There are many possibilities!

Day 7: You start your ride home towards Kei Mouth. In the morning, the horseback safari takes you through the interior of the country. Far above the mouth of the river and therefore independent of the tides, you will cross the river. The soft clay soil is perfect for galloping as you make your way back towards the beach. The ride continues towards the Kei Mouth River until you finally reach the paddocks, where you will say goodbye to the horses. You will then have time for a late lunch in one of the local restaurants. Then it's time to return to the guest house. A traditional South African barbecue (braai) awaits you there. An absolute highlight and the perfect end to a wonderful riding holiday.

Day 8: Your last morning ride depends on your flight times. If you are not leaving East London too early, a ride in the early morning can be organised. Afterwards, you will return to the airport and leave behind your horses and the friendly people you have met. The itinerary of the horse riding safari is subject to change at any time, depending on weather conditions and tides.
