Pristine white sand as far as the eye can see, rolling hills, mountainous terrain, and an incredibly rich flora and fauna—that's what awaits you on this ride. The starting point of the tour is only about 2 hours from Cape Town. Immerse yourself in the Walker Bay area and discover the famous proteas and different types of fynbos. Like most things at the southernmost point of Africa, the beaches here are also worth a visit. The coastal region offers an enticing ion of bays and deserted beaches. Bird lovers will also be in their element! In the southern Overberg on the Western Cape, nature still reigns supreme! Everything is very natural, with hardly any changes made by human hands – immerse yourself in the traditional, authentic South African world of this beautiful region!

From July to December, with a little luck, you have the chance to see smooth-hided whales in the wild. It is not uncommon to catch a glimpse of these impressive, magnificent animals as you gallop along the coast – often only 100 meters away!
You ride on sure-footed, forward-going horses and enjoy longer rides along the coast and through mountainous terrain.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at the farm in the late afternoon. You can be picked up from Cape Town Airport. Once you arrive at the farm, you will receive an introduction and discuss the tour itinerary. Afterwards, you can get to know your fellow riders over dinner.

Day 2: Farm – Witkrans Farm (4 hours)
Today you will set off on your first ride through the beautiful and plant-rich landscape of the Cape region. Your route will take you past protea and fynbos plantations. Proteas grow mainly in the southern hemisphere and belong to the shrub family. They are also known as sugarbush or Cape rose due to their color and beauty. Sixty-five of the 130 species found worldwide grow in the Cape Town area alone. The king protea is the coat of arms and national flower of South Africa and is characterized by silvery-red, white, and yellow petals. Enjoy the rich flora and fauna in this area and continue riding uphill with a view of the wide valley of Uilkraalsrivier with its green meadows. You will cross the river and ride along a gorge until you reach a flower farm. On this farm you will find some old tree species surrounded by countless mountain streams. There is a unique, peaceful atmosphere that is hard to find anywhere else. It is one of the few barren regions in Overberg where there is enough food and water for plants and animals. In the early afternoon, you will return to the farm and have time to relax and sit together in the evening.

Day 3: Witkrans Farm - Klein Paradys (5 hours)
After a delicious breakfast, you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Indian Ocean once more before setting off on horseback for the descent. You will reach flatter areas and see limestone fynbos again and again. You will now ride towards the sea and soon enjoy magnificent views of the beautiful sandy beach. Shortly before your lunch break, you will reach the coast. In this area, you will see limestone fynbos again and again – the soil here is particularly nutrient-rich and acidic, providing ideal conditions for rich vegetation. Experience the unique scent and varied botany. After your lunch break, you can ride along pristine, secluded sandy beaches and enjoy the magnificent view of the sea. Again and again, you will see rocky outcrops on the beach with small pools of water. Depending on the time, weather, and mood of your horses, you can take the opportunity to go swimming. The horses are always lively, focused, and enjoy the spray and small waves of the sea. After your ride, you will return to your accommodation for the night, where you can end the day with many wonderful memories.

Day 4: Klein Paradys - Ratel River (5 hours)
You will ride along the coast to your destination for the day, Ratel River, where you will spend the night. Ratel River is an old limestone building that forms the gateway to Agulhas National Park. The Agulhas Plain is an impressive nature reserve with rich vegetation. It is home to around 2,000 species of native plants, 100 of which are endemic and 110 of which are on the red list of endangered species.
You will meet Minie Groenewald from the local community, who will introduce you to the flora and fauna as well as the cuisine of Overberg. In the evening, enjoy the stars under the bright African sky and listen to the sounds of the ocean at night.

Day 5: Ratel River - Renosterkop (5 hours)
On this day, discover sandy dunes and ride along rocky coastlines around Brandfontein. The relatively short riding day takes you through the breathtaking, varied, and unspoiled landscape of this region. At lunchtime, you will enjoy your lunch in the middle of the dune landscape. There are several opportunities to capture this beautiful nature with the naked eye or your camera. In the evening, you will return to Renosterkop. Some of the historic buildings date back to the 1790s. Today, you will enjoy an African-style dinner: the meals are freshly prepared for you over an open fire and are a real specialty. Sit together around the campfire and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere with the contented horses snorting in the background.

Day 6: From Renosterkop with a stop at Cape Agulhas and back (6 hours)
This day promises to be an absolute highlight – you will visit the southernmost point of Africa, where the Indian Ocean meets the Atlantic Ocean. Despite the number of places in Cape Town that are called two oceans, every resident of Agulhas will confirm that the sacred oceans of the Indian and Atlantic meet here at the point you are riding to today. A small sign marks the southernmost point where you can stand without getting wet. A boundary line marks the Indian Ocean on the left and the Atlantic Ocean on the right. The strong winds and currents in the area have already claimed the lives of around 120 ships, which now provide a habitat for fish on the seabed. Here you can observe a wide variety of birds hunting. After visiting the cape, today's ride takes you through almost untouched countryside, where you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere to the fullest. Only very rarely will you find yourself back in civilization when you cross a road or paved path. At the end of the day, a warm lunch and a cozy evening with your group await you.

Day 7: Back to the farm (8 hours)
Today, you will ride back to the farm through a mountainous landscape of thistles and s, the fynbos. Again and again, you will catch a glimpse of the coastline.
This long day of riding is the crowning glory of the tour and you are sure to enjoy some longer trots and gallops today, taking in the beautiful landscape around you. In the afternoon, you ride over the mountains back to the farm. In the evening, you can relax and recover from your long day of riding. You will sit down together for dinner and no doubt have plenty to talk about before the last night of your trip begins.

Day 8: After breakfast, you will set off for Cape Town. From there, you can either begin your journey home or continue your trip. It is also possible to book additional nights on the farm.

The program is subject to change at any time due to weather conditions.
