Unser Tipp
Dreamlike Riding safari with comfort - an ideal program for the perfect adventure vacation for rider and non-riding companions in South Africa!
Beschreibung & Reiseverlauf
This huge private wildlife reserve is idyllically located in the heart of South Africa's charming Waterberg region. Nestled in a remote valley, it is home to a wide variety of wildlife, birds, and plants, including big game such as rhinos and buffalos—the ideal conditions for unforgettable horseback safaris! Two exceptional bush lodges in malaria-free Waterberg, about 2.5 hours northwest of Johannesburg, await you for a dream vacation. You will enjoy an extremely pleasant exclusivity, as only a very small number of guests are accommodated at any one time. This means that the program is very personal and individual. The Waterberg Horseback Safari with Comfort has been awarded the GOOD SAFARI GUIDE AWARD several times as one of the best horseback safaris in Africa and is one of the EQUITOUR PREMIUM horseback riding tours.
Reiseverlauf
Example of your horseback safari: Reliable, well-trained horses are available for riding, allowing you to roam the varied terrain in search of wildlife. As the horses here live almost completely free in herds in the bush, they are well-balanced and absolutely sure-footed. The horses are also very used to wild animals, so you can enjoy the wonderful rides in complete relaxation! Approach zebras, giraffes, rhinos, buffalos, and large herds of various antelopes such as the magnificent kudus, impressive sable antelopes, or the mighty eland antelopes from horseback! There is always something new to see and discover in the bush! A group of warthogs with their young here, a porcupine there, and a herd of wildebeest on the horizon. The high density and diversity of wildlife makes every horse safari here an unforgettable experience! The riding speed and duration of these individual horse safaris can be tailored to your wishes. Two rides are offered daily, a longer horseback safari of 3-4 hours in the morning and a slightly shorter ride of approx. 2-3 hours in the late afternoon, often with a surprise sundowner in the middle of the bush. Enjoy a “table set for you” with well-chilled drinks and a small aperitif as the African sun sets, while you simply unsaddle your horse and let it run free in the middle of the bush – the horses find their own way back to the stable, while you are comfortably taken back to the lodge by jeep.
Accompanied bush walks with trained gamekeepers, rhino watching, and jeep safaris in a private wildlife reserve are also offered. This makes the stay very interesting and varied for non-riders and families as well.
Additional Activities: Accompanied bush walks with trained gamekeepers, rhino watching, and jeep safaris in a private wildlife reserve are also offered. This makes the stay very interesting and varied for non-riders and families as well.
Unterkunft
The two luxurious safari lodges are exceptionally beautifully situated and blend almost seamlessly into the magnificent natural surroundings with their traditional thatched roofs.
With elegant African-style furniture and colors, a warm fireplace, cozy seating areas and a refreshing pool, this is the ideal place to relax, unwind and explore the beautiful surroundings.
A large veranda surrounds your Lodge and offers a wonderful place to relax. Enjoy evenings with a sundowner and a good book by the crackling open fire and hot days by the cool pool!
You will spend the night in luxurious, spacious double rooms with beautiful en-suite bathrooms, which, like the entire Lodge , are tastefully furnished in classic African style.
The food is excellent! The kitchen will spoil you with typical African and international specialties! Normally a light breakfast is served in the morning, followed by a multi-course lunch as well as coffee/tea and cake in the afternoon and a 3 to 4-course, delicious candlelit dinner, accompanied by excellent South African wines. Of course, varied vegetarian meals are also offered. Here you can really enjoy Africa with all your senses: Bon appetit and cheers!
The two safari lodges are located in the middle of the huge game reserve about 20 minutes away from each other by jeep - so you can also go from one to the other Lodge to ride.
The lodges are the base from which you set off to explore parts of the Waterberg, e.g. the Lapalala Wilderness (with its famous black rhino population), the Clive Walker Rhino Museum, Marakele National Park or the spectacular river Mokolo, to name but a few.
Discover the secrets of the trails with an experienced game ranger and learn about the fruits and medicinal uses of local plants and trees. The mountains and gorges offer impressive views of the Waterberg region and make a twilight drink or a bush breakfast simply perfect!
The lodges can be booked flexibly for 4 or more nights or combined with a stay on the
Lodge on lake and/or a bush safari can be combined, e.g. the
Tuli Safari in Botswana. Also the
Wine country for connoisseurs in the Cape is a great addition or extension option.
