Beschreibung & Reiseverlauf

In the middle of the jungle among singing birds, colorful flowers and exotic plants and close to the Belize River, the lodge is located in the heart of Belize. The horses usually roam freely and graze under the palm trees, the iguanas sit relaxed in the trees, a real idyll. The lodge exudes historical charm. The guests are accommodated in different rooms and cabanas, some of which can accommodate up to 6 people. The cabanas are in the typical style of the country with thatched roof and each has a bathroom, living room and two bedrooms (each with 1 queen size bed and 1 single bed) and are ideal for groups and families. There are also several rooms in different sizes. At the main house there is a swimming pool for relaxation and refreshment.
The lodge has one of the best riding centres in the country and offers rides in the lush, green, tropical surroundings of the lodge. Countless trails wind their way through the jungle in a large area and offer a variety of riding possibilities. The lodge has about 100 horses (mostly quarter-mixed), which are raised with great care and trained under horsemanship aspects. The stable includes an indoor and outdoor riding arena. Besides riding out, there is the possibility to get a taste of horsemanship and to work with the horses on the course and to get to know the communication concepts according to John Lyons and Pat Parelli.
Two different riding programs are offered.

Reiseverlauf

Mayan Adventure Ride (5 days)

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the jungle lodge near Belmopán. If you arrive early in Belize City, there is the possibility to visit the zoo on the way (entrance fee not included). Alternatively it would be possible on the return transfer. Depending on the arrival time at the lodge, there might be enough time for a first ride. Dinner and overnight stay in Cabana.

Day 2: The day starts with a 3 hour ride through the jungle to explore the surroundings. In the afternoon you will make an excursion, either to Xunantunich, Cahal Pech or Che Chem Ha, ruins and remains of old Mayan temples and buildings. Afterwards your guide will take you to San Ignacio, where you can have lunch and do some shopping. Or maybe you prefer to visit the butterfly farm or old Mennonite settlement? In the afternoon you return to the lodge where you can relax until dinner.

Day 3: Today you can choose between an approx. 3-hour ride in the morning and afternoon (with lunch at the lodge) or an approx. 6-hour day ride with saddlebag picnic on the way. If you like, you can also ride for half a day and take a boat trip on the Belize River. At dinner all guests meet again and can tell about their experiences.

Day 4: After an early breakfast you will leave for Tikal or Caracol, both important Mayan ruins. To get to Tikal, the largest Mayan city in Central America, you have to cross the border to Guatemala (minimum number of participants 3 pers.). Your English speaking guide will lead you through the five main temples of the complex. The excursion to Caracol takes you to the Mountain Pine Ridge of Belize (min. 2 pers.) There you can marvel at the largest Maya complex in the country and learn more about the important role of King Lord Can II. Or you can explore other parts of the jungle on horseback.

Day 5: Breakfast and transfer to the airport.

Day 2: Today every action fan gets his money´s worth. You can choose between a day tour in a rubber dinghy through Mayan caves with stalactites and crystal formations, optionally a little shorter, but with ziplining in advance. Or you take part in a hike through the jungle and explore a limestone cave, with the possibility of swimming afterwards. The third option includes a canoe trip to Barton Creek Cave. The unreal rock formations in there were seen by the Maya as a gateway to the underworld.
Day 3: This morning there is a jungle ride of about 2 hours, which you can combine with a picnic. The afternoon is spent swimming at the Pristine Inland Blue Hole, a picturesque lagoon in the middle of the jungle.
Day 4: Breakfast and last jungle ride. Transfer to the airport.

There are also plenty of opportunities for non-riding activities - from a boat trip to a visit to one of the ancient Maya ruins.
