Beschreibung & Reiseverlauf

High up in the mountains, where the road ends and the trail begins, is Wind River Wilderness Ranch. Far away from civilization, Jim and Mary Allen are proud of the simple rustic comfort of their ranch. Cozy wooden cabins, the main and cooking hut and beautiful horses await visitors at over 2800 meters where summer nights are cool and daytime temperatures are just right. The ranch is the perfect place for a successful family vacation. Included in the price are a holiday cabin, full board, horseback riding, fishing, natural history walks and wildlife watching. Packtrips or cattle round ups can be booked as well. The small ranch with propane gas light, a wood stove in each cabin and a central shower house with warm water offers a family friendly atmosphere. A holiday here is suitable for people of all ages. There are only four cabins, so that an individual program can be guaranteed. Close to the ranch grounds are the Wind River Indian Reservation, old gold mines and associated villages, Yellowstone Park and Teton National Park. Enjoy the solitude of the wilderness and the great views! After dinner you can look forward to beautiful alpine sunsets over snow-capped peaks. Before that you will experience how the 70 or so horses of the ranch storm up to the mountain meadows where they spend the night. Besides horseback riding, there are many other activities on the ranch, such as hiking, trips to hot springs or fishing. In the surrounding area there are numerous bubbling mountain lakes, clear streams and glaciers. High, jagged mountain ridges from which the streams flow down into the narrow valley, canyons and permanently snow-covered areas enchant visitors to this unique wilderness. The highest mountain in the region, Wind River Peak, measures a good 4400m, with a total of over 20 4000m peaks. The alpine to subalpine vegetation has a great variety of species.
