Hunsrück Trail (5 days/4 riding days)
Day 1: Individual arrival, overnight stay and dinner at the farm.
Day 2: After breakfast to ride you head north-east for most of the day. First you descend to river Glan, which you then follow eastwards in the Glan meadows until you reach Lauterecken through the town to ride. After the village, the route climbs uphill for the first time to the "Windhof" hill, which lives up to its name. On this ridge to ride you ride northeast to above Jeckenbach, where you then ride downhill to slow . After Jeckenbach to rear you climb up again and cross Bärweiler. Before Kirschroth, turn east and to ride in valley to Meddersheim. Here the path leads through the vineyards to "Menschels Resort" in the Nahe valley. Continue north to the Nahe, where you can water your horses. Follow the Nahe in a westerly direction to the Gänsmühle mill, where you cross it on a footbridge. After the Gänsmühle, you have to cross the railroad tracks and the main road 41 to take the last ascent to Weiler on the other side. Beate and her Heinzelmännchen are waiting there at the Unterauerhell station, which is also part of the board of the Hunsrück zu Pferd e.V. association. The welcome and accommodation are accordingly super.
Day 3: Today's route leads in a westerly direction for most of the day via the Gonrather farm to the "Haumühle" campsite. Here you have to cross a section of the Simmerbach stream to ride, as the actual path is not rideable. Leave the creek on the north side to continue along a narrow forest path to Heinzenberg to ride. Continue in a north-westerly direction past the "Schlösschen Wasem" near Hennweiler, around Bruschied, past Rudolfshaus to Reinhardsmühle. From there, the route heads west to the Hottenbacher Mühle mill near Stipshausen.
Day 4: This section is the most ambitious of the entire tour and is a very beautiful section that takes you in a southerly direction from Berschweiler directly to Fischbach near Idar Oberstein. There to rear you descend into the Nahe valley to cross it on the road. You then cross the railroad line and the main road to continue on the mountain side through the industrial estate towards Dickesbach to ride. Pass Oberreidenbach to the west to ride and continue to Unterjeckenbach. The route continues south via Schönbornerhof, past Kirrweiler to Offenbach-Hundheim, arriving at Riding centre at around 5.00 pm.
Hunsrück and Northern Palatinate (7 days/ 6 riding days)
1: Day: Individual arrival, overnight stay and dinner at farm.
2: Day: After breakfast, you to ride ride north along the Baumholder military training area to Fischbach. In Fischbach to rear you enter the Nahe and give the ponies plenty of water to drink rest before the steep climb up from the Nahe valley towards Berschweiler. There is a shaggy path at the bottom. As soon as you reach the top, you can already see Berschweiler to the northwest. In Berschweiler to stand the ponies on Sophie's Sirona Ranch . The rider spend the night at Landgasthof Schmidthöfer and enjoy a delicious dinner.
Day 3: After breakfast, we head northwest via Niederhosenbach and Breitenthal past Weiden and Asbach to Hottenbach. This is actually the Hottenbacher Mühle, but it is closer to Stipshausen than to Hottenbach. There you stay overnight at the certified trail riding station of Hunsrück zu Pferd e.V., which has an excellent reputation as Idarwald Ranch.
Day 4: After the obligatory health check, breakfast and the daily stowage of equipment to ride you head northwest towards Longkamp on the Moselle. After a long passage through the dense forest you will pass Hinzerath and reach Wederath. Along the Lonkamperbach stream to ride you reach Pilmeroth. The day's destination is reached in Longkamp.
Day 5: This morning you start in a north-easterly direction, riding past Kautenbach and Hödeshof and around Irmenach. Here, at the northernmost point of our tour, you then turn southeast and to ride to "Hirschfeld station" directly at Hahn airfield. This passage is a beautiful route through the almost untouched forest and good paths. After crossing the busy road, to ride you pass Hirschfeld to today's stop at an old mill. In addition to accommodation, the Heartland Ranch offers a wide range of services, such as jogging courses and Kneipp cures.
Day 6: After breakfast, the route heads east and then turns south before Laufersweiler. There you follow the Idarbach stream until shortly before Rhaunen. The route then continues eastwards via Hausen and Woppenroth to Schlierschied. Now you have another long forest passage to Kellenbach. You cross the village and the eponymous valley to reach Weiler on the other side via the Bernhardinerhütte and the Gonrather farm . The "Unterauerhell" station, a founding member of Hunsrück on Horseback, awaits us here. Several groups of riders are expected to join us this weekend to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the association. A cozy get-together is planned for this occasion, during which the individual squadrons rider will report on their experiences.
Day 7: Today, on the last day of the tour to ride you always head south. First you pass the Gänsmühle and cross the Nahe. There is a footbridge with a grid surface. Your horse should be able to do this. Then follow the Nahe a little to the east downstream until shortly before Monzingen. There you turn south again at "Menschels Resort" to cross the small vineyard behind it. To the left of Meddersheim, follow the valley up to Jagdhaus Bottke. There you turn left into forest to continue through Bärweiler and Jeckenbach to the ridge before Lauterecken. You reach the "Windhof", which lives up to its name. Shortly before this, turn left to descend into the Glantal valley near Lauterecken to to ride. Cross the town in a westerly direction along the Glan to Offenbach-Hundheim, where you climb the last 2 kilometers up the valley to stable to ride . Departure is around 5 pm.
