With the Costa Brava Rittens you explore the wonderful, scenic variety of the Costa Brava in 4 riding days. On the varied rides you will experience a different route every day, whereby the start and end points are the same. You will be accommodated in a charming country hotel with pool and spa area, thus saving you the daily packing of your suitcases like on a riding tour.

Itinerary

Example:
Day 1: Arrival at the estate, in the heart of nature. Before dinner, over a glass of local country wine, you will discuss the weekly programme and the allocation of horses. Afterwards a Spanish dinner awaits you.

Day 2: After a good breakfast, prepare the horses. Today's destination is the village Ravós del Terri with its beautiful, well-preserved castle. You cross the countryside through fields and forests, where you can enjoy beautiful views of the northern region of Girona, the mountains of the Pyrenees with their snow-capped peaks. After the picnic, you return to the riding stables on a flat path lined with fields and houses, typical Catalan countryside. Upon arrival, you can enjoy relaxing moments in the garden or in the company of the horses, who will take a well-deserved rest on the estate's meadow .

Day 3: Today to ride takes you to the beautiful and well-preserved area of Vilademuls. You leave Can Grau heading north and pass through the small village Vilafreser with its Gothic-Renaissance church of Romanesque origin, whose façade dates back to the 14th century. You enjoy beautiful trotting and galloping stretches on country roads through dense forests with rosemary and thyme everywhere, before finally having your daily picnic near the village of Tarradelles. On the way back, you will pass typical farms, fields and crops. In the distance, you can make out the medieval fortified tower of Vilafreser. Due to its great height of 18 m, it is considered an exception among the typical Catalan towers.

Day 4: Today, the route leads through a beautiful poplar and beech forest at river Ter. The trail leads through fields and forests and crosses the village Medinya below its castle, from where you have a view of the Gavarres mountains. After a tasty picnic at river, you return to Can Grau via small paths that alternate with wide meadows and dense, varied forests. On the way, you will pass through village Cervila de Ter, where you can visit the castle.

Day 5: You to ride on the paths of the dense Mediterranean forest and follow the ridge, from where you have a spectacular view of the harmonious chain of fields and meadows. You reach the river Fluvia, near the town Bascara and the famous racecourse. Then you continue between olive groves and cereal fields, past farms and churches, and finally another gallop on wide paths through the oak and cork oak forest that will take you to Galliners, where you will have a picnic. Finally, you will reach Can Grau and cross the small town Vilamari. Once the horses are showered and on the pasture , you will enjoy a nice moment with a glass of cava.

Day 6: Breakfast and departure.

Accomodation
You are accommodated on an old country estate that has been newly renovated and furnished with antique furniture. The owners have realized their dream of living on the countryside with their horses.
All rooms are furnished and decorated differently. The communal room with sofa and seating areas provides plenty of space for sociable evenings and you can enjoy dinner on the terrace with pergola in summer. There are also cozy seating areas in the garden. The pool provides refreshment.

Saddle & Tack: Trail riding saddles & English saddles. Western saddles upon request. Saddlebags for personal belongings and the lunch picnic are provided.

Experience: Comfortable in all gaits and confident on unfamiliar horses in the field. Riding time approx. 4-6 hours daily.

Horses: Andalusian, Andalusian mix and Arabian.
