Ride Finnish horses, Norwegian horses and other Nordic breeds through the arctic wilderness of Finnish Lapland. In summer, you’ll be accompanied by the endless midnight sun; in autumn, the forests glow with golden colours. In this incredible landscape, you’ll have the chance to be introduced to the art of horseback archery by an internationally successful rider. No previous experience is required! Here, you’ll discover a whole new way of riding. Saddle up and experience the wilderness of Lapland.

Itinerary

1. Day: Pick-up in Rovaniemi in the afternoon and transfer to the riding centre. Check-in and first dinner together.

2. Day: Today you’ll get to know the horses. A colourful herd of Finnish horses, Norwegians and other Nordic breeds. During an initial test ride through the woods, you’ll get a feel for the terrain. In the afternoon, you’ll have time to explore the surroundings on foot at your own, go to the lake or enjoy the comforts of the guesthouse. Riding time: approx. 4 hours.

3. Day: Your first course in mounted archery awaits you. After breakfast, you’ll spend the day with a theoretical and practical introduction to this unique sport. You’ll get a feeling for the bow and perhaps even gain some experience in the saddle. In the evening, you’ll reflect on the day over a traditional sauna session.

4. Day: This day ride takes you into the magical forests of Lapland. The horses know the terrain like the back of their hands and the trails invite you to break into a trot or canter. Riding time: approx. 6 hours.

5. Day: In summer, the northern hemisphere is bathed in eternal sunlight. Experience the midnight sun on an exclusive midnight ride. In autumn, you’ll ride through the silence of the wilderness by the light of the moon. Riding time: approx. 4 hours.

6. Day: Today you will consolidate your newly acquired skills in mounted archery. Perhaps you’ll already manage to hit a target? Or you might pick up some valuable tips on how to handle a bow and arrow safely at a fast pace.

7. Day: After breakfast, return transfer to Rovaniemi.

Accomodation
You will be staying at a small, family-run equestrian centre in the quiet forests of Finnish Lapland. Accommodation in the guest house is in double and single rooms with half-board included. The on-site restaurant uses mainly local produce. You can also enjoy a light lunch here if you wish.

Saddle & Tack: English style and snaffles.

Experience: The horses are calm and even-tempered. You should be able to ride your horse confidently at all three basic gaits in the countryside. No prior experience of horseback archery is required. We will tailor the session to your individual level of ability.
