The starting point is a historic farm between Florence and Siena, in the middle of the Chianti region, famous for its red wine. Here you will stay in a comfortable, restored farmhouse in the middle of nature and surrounded by pastures, forests and hills. The riding area offers excellent opportunities for extended rides through the Tuscan hills, past medieval castles, country estates and Etruscan ruins. Here you can enjoy picturesque Tuscany to the full! The horses at the riding center are highly trained and qualified instruction is offered on request for beginners and advanced riders.

Itinerary

Chianti Castles and Wine Trail:

A complete program of half and full day trail rides, where you will explore medieval and Etruscan sites and visit wineries, with tastings, of course.

 

Day 1: Arrival at the riding center by 7 p.m. After a welcome drink and introductions, enjoy a delicious dinner.

2nd day: You will take a first half-day ride to the romantic monastery of Badia d'Ombrone. You will be back at the riding center for lunch. In the afternoon, you will ride to the medieval Castello di Montalto, where the lady of the house will be waiting for you for tea.

 

3rd day: Today's ride will take you to Arceno, an ancient country estate rich in tradition in the picturesque area between Siena and Florence. The estate, which covers more than 1000 hectares, is characterized by gently rolling golden hills and avenues lined with cypress trees. You will visit the wine cellar and enjoy a wine tasting with a view of the vineyards and olive groves. We continue through the medieval village of San Gusme, dating from the 11th century, and on to the Etruscan site of Campi, where you will enjoy your picnic. The 360-degree panorama is breathtaking, with views over the hills of Chiati to Sienna and the famous Monte Amiata. Riding time approx. 5-6 hours.

4th Day: Today you will go on a one-day ride (about 2.5 hours) through the hilly landscape to the medieval village of Montebenichi. Lunch will be served at the equestrian center. In the afternoon, you will drive to historic Montepulciano for a visit to the old town. You will taste the wine of the same name during a wine tasting.

 

5th day: Another day's ride will take you through the typical Chianti region with its vineyards, olive groves and hilly fields. At lunchtime you will reach the Felsina winery, where you will taste the estate's own wine during lunch.

 

6th day: Today you will explore a new corner of Tuscany on horseback, the famous Crete Senesi, known for their delicious “Pecorino” (sheep's cheese), among other things. You will also follow an old Etruscan trail with magnificent views of the Chianti hills and, in good weather, as far as Siena. On the way back you will pass the historic Rapale fortress from the early Middle Ages, which is still unchanged today. While there were once around 300 inhabitants, today there are only around 10 permanent residents. Riding time: 5-6 hours.

 

7th day: You will take a half-day ride (about 2.5 hours) to the Borgo Monastero monastery. The route leads through green forests, olive groves and vineyards. After lunch at the riding center, you will leave for Siena in the afternoon, a must-see on any trip to Tuscany! Siena is considered the best-preserved historical city and offers numerous attractions, a great end to your vacation! In the evening, you will return to the riding center, where you will enjoy a final dinner together.

 

8th day: Breakfast and departure.

 

Chianti Connoisseur Riding Week (8 days):

Riding, sightseeing and enjoyment – discover Tuscany with all your senses! This is ideal if you don't want to worry about a thing and perhaps are traveling alone: In addition to extensive rides, two wine tastings are included, as well as several excursions and a spa visit.

You will go on five half-day rides (or riding lessons) and a day ride in the beautiful surroundings of the equestrian center. Through cypress-lined avenues, golden hills, past estates and historic places.

You will also visit Sienna, Pienza, San Gimignano and/or Cortona, all picturesque historic towns full of history. You will also visit the Rapolano thermal baths, which were already very popular in Roman times!

Of course, culinary delights are also very important on any trip to Tuscany. You will be treated to local delicacies at the farm and on the road, including matching wines, of course. The program also includes two wine tastings.

Accomodation
You will stay in the restored farmhouse in double rooms and apartments in the typical Tuscan country house style. Single occupancy is subject to a surcharge.
The star rides include full board. At lunchtime, there is either a picnic in the countryside, lunch at the riding center or on the road on a country estate. In the evening, a delicious dinner awaits you every day at your accommodation, of course with traditional Tuscan dishes and always the matching wine. One or two wine tastings are also included in the price (see program).
During the riding week, you will stay in an apartment and take care of yourself. A breakfast basket for the first day is included, and you can order more for an extra charge. Certain products such as wine are available at the farm. We recommend renting a car or traveling by car.

Saddle & Tack: English saddles and bridles.

Experience: Riding weeks are also available for beginners, pleasure rides for those with at least a moderate level of riding experience, and star rides for advanced riders with trail experience. Half-day rides last around 2.5 hours, and day rides 5-6 hours in the saddle. Maximum rider weight 90 kg.

Horses: Überwiegend italienische Warmblutpferde, Stockmass bis ca. 1,70m.
