What items am I allowed to bring with me?

Please do not bring any used leather items or gloves.
Everything else must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected; clothing should be washed in the washing machine.

How will luggage be transported?

In the support vehicle, which you will usually meet on the way to the picnic. Some water bottles are carried in saddlebags. However, you will not have saddlebags on your horse!

How is the transfer organised?

The transfer takes place on the first day from BSI, the central bus terminal in Reykjavik, between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. A transfer from the airport is not possible; please take the airport bus. Return to Reykjavík on the last day at around 5:00 p.m. Return flights can be booked from around 9:00 p.m. If you are flying back the next morning, it is best to book accommodation at the airport.

Which tour is right for me?

All rides with free-roaming herds are only for experienced riders! The pace is brisk throughout. However, there are differences in the daily stages: the most demanding rides are Sprenisandur and Landmannalaugar. (Daily stages sometimes > 60 km, up to 9 hours on the road!) Easier tours are those without herds (Thingvellir and Blue Lagoon). As well as all ‘Iceland with comfort’ offers. Here, you can participate with just 1-2 years of riding experience, and children are also welcome.

What are the accommodations like?

On all wilderness tours, you will often stay in very simple accommodations, e.g.:

Mountain huts with bunk beds, usually 1-2 rooms, where you will cook, eat and sleep. Sometimes there are 1-2 showers at the hut or separate coin-operated showers. Some huts only have toilets and washbasins.

Guest houses or farms with 2- and multi-bed rooms, shared showers and kitchen.

School or community halls with mattresses, usually with shower facilities or a local swimming pool.

If that's too basic for you, choose one of the Iceland with Comfort programmes/South Iceland Exclusive. Here you will stay in a riding hotel in single or double rooms with bathroom and hotel restaurant.
