Beschreibung & Reiseverlauf
Located in the southwest of Ireland, County Kerry offers an extremely varied landscape. High mountains, forests, lakes, waterfalls and plenty of beaches and mudflats. Added to this is the moderate climate created by the Gulf Stream, which even allows palm trees to grow and has given rise to the richest bird colonies in Europe on the offshore islands. The landscape is lush and Irish green, the constant change of colors between clouds and sea, mountains and meadows creates this unique Irish landscape feeling. You will ride through Ireland's highest mountains (up to 850m), over the beaches of Waterville and the 6km long sandy beach of Rossbeigh. You also ride some stretches on paved roads - there are not sand and dirt tracks everywhere.
You will experience the typical Irish landscape and the Irish way of life, not forgetting the legendary pubs with Guinness and the unique Irish music!
Reiseverlauf
Day 1: Arrival at the riding stable, where you will have a brief chat with your hosts and be assigned to your horses. Overnight stay in a B&B in Killarney.
Day 2: Get to know the horses and ride over Windy Gap. Enjoy beautiful views of Caragh Lake and the valley beyond. Continue to Lake Coomasaharn and across peat fields to the stable in the mountains where the horses will stay. Riders will be driven to the B&B in Glenbeigh. The next two nights are spent in Glenbeigh, located at the northern end of the Iveragh Peninsula and surrounded by mountains. Glenbeigh is a beautiful village with typical Irish pubs and a beautiful beach nearby. Use your free time to visit Winn's Folly Castle.
Day 3: Transfer to the horses. Ride from Lake Garagh down the slopes of the coastal mountains to the long beaches of Glenbeigh. You can let off steam all day long with long gallops. You ride across sandy beaches, through dunes and enjoy the wonderful view across to Dingle Bay. Lunch on the beach. In the afternoon, return to the stables via the Cliff Road and overnight stay in Glenbeigh.
Day 4: In the morning, ride from Kells Station through the Cnoc Bawn area to Liss Bawn. This route offers unforgettable views of Caherciveen and the surrounding area. Lunch break today in a beautiful forest. Continue through Island Boy and the Inny Valley to Tulligane Woods where the horses will stay. You will drive to Waterville, where you will spend the next 2 nights. Waterville, situated on a narrow spit of land between mountains and the sea, offers beautiful golden sandy beaches and an impressive back . It is said that the first Celts landed in Ballinskelligs Bay, right next to Waterville.
Day 5: After breakfast, drive to the horses. Ride through Tulligane Woods and have lunch in an old schoolhouse by the River Inny. Enjoy a beautiful ride to Waterville along the old Glencar/Waterville Road. Lough Currane lies ahead of you and Ballinskelligs Bay behind you. Overnight stay in Waterville.
Day 6: After breakfast, Waterville beach invites you to enjoy some wonderful, fast gallops. Enjoy the beach to the fullest once again. Lunch in a nice pub. In the afternoon, ride over Hoggs Head and Ballinskelligs Bay. In the late afternoon, the horses and riders return to Killarney, where you will spend your last night.
Please note: Depending on the tides, today's programme may be reversed and the beach ride may take place in the afternoon.
