If you've always dreamed of galloping along the beach, this is the place for you! The 40 km long beach is only developed for tourism in a few places, with long stretches falling under nature reserve status but still accessible to riders, offering ideal opportunities for beach riding and long, fast rides. The riding stable itself is located about 5 km from the beach, surrounded by pine forests with countless sandy paths.
Enjoy exciting gallops on the endless, fine sandy beaches during our Atlantic ride. Ride through fragrant pine forests and wild marshland with its pools, which are constantly being reshaped by the tides. After galloping on the beach, the ride continues through the sand dunes of the light-flooded Atlantic coast.
The colourful variety of flowers in spring, the purple carpet of heather in autumn and, in between, a long bathing season on clean, shallow beaches.
If you stay longer, you can book a sauna or massage on site.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Bordeaux and transfer to Mimizan Plage. You will spend the night in a guest house with a pool and terrace close to the horses. Dinner togeher with the group at a restaurant around 8.30 p.m.

Day 2: After breakfast, you will drive to Mimizan Plage, where you can enjoy the beach, stroll through the beautiful coastal town and have lunch in a restaurant (not included in preis). The riding day begins in the afternoon. You will ride briefly in the arena before setting off on your first ride through the beautiful pine forest. You will try out all the gaits and get used to the French riding style. Great importance is attached to ensuring that all riders can stop their horses safely and ride independently at the desired speed in all gaits. This forms the basis for your ride, which gradually increases in speed. Riding time approx. 4 hours. In the evening, you will leave the horses in a paddock near Bias, where you will be picked up. Dinner at the guest house.

Day 3: Today you will have your first beach ride. Whether this takes place in the morning or afternoon depends on the tides. You will also discover the pine forest of Les Landes and beautiful coastal regions with dunes up to 150 metres high. Approx. 30 km in the saddle (5-6 hours). The destination is St. Julien, where you will leave the horses. Dinner at the guest house.

Day 4: The next two days will involve a lot of trotting and galloping. You will ride across wide white sandy areas to St. Julien en Born before continuing on to Uza and Lake Forge. The route then takes you to Lévignac, a beautiful little town known for its ancient church. Here you will have lunch. Through wild nature along the mill road ‘Route des moulins’ you will reach an idyllic lake, where you will leave the horses. Riding time 5-6 hours (approx. 30 km). Dinner at the guest house.

Day 5: Today, you will ride through a well-known bird sanctuary and then the village of Uza with its 18th-century buildings. Lunch will be in Uza. In the afternoon, you will ride along the river and through the wild pine forest of Les Landes back to Bias. The horses will stay on the trail, while the riders will return to their accommodation as usual. Riding time approx. 5 hours. Dinner at the guest house.

Day 6: Today, a slightly shorter ride to the beach is on the agenda. Whether this takes place in the morning or afternoon depends on the tides. The other half of the day is yours to spend as you wish. In high summer, you have the opportunity to swim in the sea with the horses. And, of course, you will enjoy many beautiful gallops on the wide sandy beach. Riding time approx. 4 hours, approx. 20 km. Dinner at the guest house.

Day 7: You will ride to the Etang d'Aureilhan, the large lake north of Mimizan, where you will have a picnic and, in summer, the opportunity to swim (without horses). In the afternoon, you will follow the idyllic lake shore before ending the day with a sunset ride on the Atlantic beach (only possible at low tide!). Riding time approx. 5-6 hours, approx. 30 km. Dinner at the guest house.

Day 8: Departure after breakfast.

Note: The daily schedule is subject to change as the timing of the beach rides depend on the tides.

Accomodation
The horses stay in a paddock for several days while the rider return to the cozy guest house at Riding centre . The guest house has beautifully renovated double and 3-bed rooms with shower/WC in a historic farm. There is a pool and several seating areas in the center. The farm is located approx. 5 km from the beach in a beautiful pine forest. 

Catering: Lunch is served either in the form of a picnic or in the restaurant. For dinner, delicious dishes are served in the guest house. water and table wine are served with the meal.

Notice: Dinner is usually eaten very late here (9-9:30 pm). We therefore recommend that you always carry a few small snacks in your saddlebags so that the break between lunch and dinner is not too long.

 

Saddle & Tack: English and French trail riding saddles.

Experience: From approx. 5 years riding experience with regular trail riding in all gaits. The gallops usually take place individually or in pairs (detached from the group). The horses are lively but easy to handle. The daily distances are up to 35 km, so the riding is sporty and a good level of fitness is required. Not recommended for anxious riders. Rider weight max. 95kg.

Horses: French trotters, Selle Francais, thoroughred and Anglo-Arabian horses up to approx. 1.70m. Very willing to run, sure-footed and sociable. The horses live all year round on huge pastures in a herd.
