Beschreibung & Reiseverlauf
Ride through the mountains and valleys of the French Alps, amidst the spectacular scenery surrounding the
Mont Blanc, and enjoy the fresh air, French cheeses and local wines. The villages you pass through to ride are ski resorts in winter, but they are also beautiful in summer. This is also a great option for families as the riding trails are not too challenging for children and the horses are good-natured.
Reiseverlauf
Seven Peaks Trail (5 days)Day 1: Depending on your arrival time, you can explore Samoens and visit the La Jaysinia botanical garden. This 3.5-hectare garden specialises in alpine flowers and is open daily (except when it snows). Admission is free. The garden is home to around 8,000 plants from all over the world, including 4,500 Alpine plants and 500 species of trees and shrubs. The gardens are located at an altitude of 700 to 800 metres above sea level on a steep, south-facing limestone slope overlooking the old village. The gardens also include the ruins of Tornalta Castle (12th century), a chapel (1687) and fountains and waterfalls. In the evening, you will meet your guide for dinner, during which you will receive a briefing.
Day 2: After breakfast, you will meet the horses and ride towards the Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval nature reserve, which has been named one of the most beautiful villages in France. Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval has many attractions to offer, including the Cascade du Rouget waterfall, one of about thirty waterfalls in the area. You will ride along paths through the mountains and along the Giffre River, which are perfect for trotting and galloping.
Day 3: After breakfast, you will ride around Samoens through the mountains, cross the Giffre River and let the horses cool their legs.
Day 4: In the morning, you will ride along the Giffre Valley to Lake Taninges in Flérier. You will visit the Chartreuse de Mélan and enjoy a delicious lunch at the restaurant on Lake Flérier. The Chartreuse de Mélan is a former Carthusian monastery in the town of Taninges in Haute-Savoie. The charterhouse used to house nuns. Later, it was converted into a small seminary and then into an orphanage. Today, it houses a cultural centre. The charterhouse was listed as a historic monument in 1911.
Day 5: On the last day, you will saddle up early to ride to the Gollese Pass at 1,784 metres. You will ride along the famous GR5 route, pass the village of Les Allamands and stop for lunch at the Sebastian Baud guesthouse. After lunch, it is only a short ride back to your accommodation at 1,400 metres.
Seven peaks (4 days)
The route de ion for the 4-day version is almost identical up to the 4th day. However, you will spend the 2nd night at Pelly Mountain Camp and return to Samoens on the 3rd day.

Unterkunft
5-day tour: You will spend the night in romantic cottages in a former farmhouse in the hamlet of Vercland in Samoëns. At an altitude of 800 m, you can enjoy the proximity to the high mountains, which provide a pleasant climate in summer.
An upgrade to a 3-star hotel with wellness area is possible. Single rooms are also available in this hotel.
During the
4-day variant spend one night at a campsite. Bring your sleeping bag!
Breakfast and dinner are served at the hotel, plus a light lunch during the rides.

Reiterfahrung: Advanced beginners, confidence in all gaits. The riding is not particularly demanding, although there are opportunities to trot and canter. However, a good physical condition is required for riding in the mountains.
