Unser Tipp
A brisk ride in the mountains with wonderful views, for all those rider who are looking for a new challenge!
Beschreibung & Reiseverlauf
Experience a varied active holiday in the Cévennes region of France. Ride through the wonderful UNESCO World Heritage Site and enjoy the magnificent mountain landscape on horseback. Breathtaking views over a unique mountain panorama and long, fast gallops. The noble Anglo-Arabs are also active in endurance sports and therefore have almost endless stamina. This riding tour is the continuation of the Morvan au Galop (the fastest ride in Europe), which has been popular for many years. Experience an extraordinary and fast-paced riding tour through the spectacular mountain landscape of the Cévennes with numerous famous sights such as the Tarn Gorges, mountain passes and traditional mountain villages. This tour is led by the same partner as the Morvan horse riding tour, who will also be able to tell you a lot about the flora and fauna and his trained endurance horses. With these incredibly enduring, trained horses, you will gallop long distances as you will rarely find anywhere else. But don't worry: our customers are not professionals and only ride in their free time! Important requirements are confidence in all gaits and good physical condition. By the end of the ride, you will be able to master any terrain and enjoy galloping downhill.
You will also stay in beautiful, traditional and typical French hotels and guesthouses and enjoy the famous French cuisine to the fullest.
Reiseverlauf
Day 1: Arrival in Florac by around 6 p.m. Get to know each other and enjoy dinner together. You will spend the night in mobile homes at the Florac campsite.
Day 2: After breakfast, today's ride takes you through the mountain landscape to the summit of Lozère. You then ride higher and higher until you finally reach the highest peak, De Finiels, at around 1,700 metres. From here, you have a wonderful view over the Cévennes. At lunchtime, you will be served a delicious picnic by Lake Barandon. Refreshed, you will continue riding down into the large Tarn Gorge, partly through steep narrow passages. In the evening, you will spend the night in a nice French hotel, where you will be treated to dinner. Riding stage approx. 45 km.
Day 3: Your riding day begins in Florac. This town in the southern Massif Central of the Cévennes is the starting point of a 40 km long and deeply carved gorge system. The rivers Tarn and Tarnon converge here and flow through the gorge: a spectacular sight!
Ride through Florac and from here you will pass the village of Barre de Cévennes, nestled beneath a mountain peak. Today you will cross many well-known mountain passes, including the Col de Salidés and the Can du Hospitalet, and finally you will ride up the second highest mountain, the Aigoual, at an altitude of 1,600 m. Throughout the day, you will enjoy magnificent views of mountain meadows and rocky mountain passes of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch will be a real highlight on the Col des Faisses Pass, where you can enjoy a unique view of the valley. You will spend the night in very comfortable mountain accommodation in the midst of this world of peaks. Riding stage approx. 55 km.
Day 4: You will ride over the summit of the Aigoual (approx. 11 km climb). Finally, you will reach the Bramabiau karst cave, which you will visit. The cave, through which a river flows, has a natural entrance and exit, so you can walk through it on rocky paths. At the end of the cave, you will be amazed by another mountain panorama. This place is perfect for lunch. The descent leads through forest paths of the Cévennes Arboretum, where you can enjoy some beautiful galloping stretches. Overnight stay in a very nice guest house with regional and traditional French cuisine. Riding stage approx. 40 km.
Day 5: Today starts with a challenge: a 14 km gallop that you can ride at full speed. Your endurance horses are well trained and will master this route with ease. Then you will follow small paths through the Gorges de la Jonte. With a depth of around 500 m and its wild, romantic untouched nature, it is just as impressive as the famous Tarn Gorge. You continue through the Cévennes National Park across the limestone plateau of Causse-Méjean. At lunchtime, you take a break in the pretty little town of Meyruies and have lunch there. Afterwards, there are more kilometres of galloping in a landscape that is somewhat reminiscent of Ireland: green meadows, small stone walls and lots of space. You spend the night in a traditional guesthouse with local cuisine. Riding stage approx. 45-50 km.
Day 6: After a French breakfast, you will ride from Nivoliers to Ispagnac. On the way, you will once again cross the Causse-Méjean plateau. You will pass the ruins of Castelbouc Castle, which hovers above the mountain village of the same name on a peak. You will ride along beautiful trails that are ideal for galloping, passing picturesque countryside and the Tarn Gorge. At lunchtime, you will stop at an idyllic spot with a magnificent view of the Tarn Gorge you have just passed through. Overnight stay in a guest house or hotel. Riding stage approx. 45 km.
Day 7: Your last day of riding takes you over the Lozère mountain and then up the Col de Montmirat. Continue on the Causse de Sauveterre limestone plateau, which is located at an altitude of 1,200 m. At lunchtime, you will have a picnic on the Col de Montmirat mountain pass and can once again enjoy the magnificent panorama. After the break, you will gallop across mountain pastures to the accommodation for the first night. Departure. Riding stage approx. 42 km.
If you wish, you can book an extra night there and leave the next day after breakfast.

Endurance trekking horses, especially Anglo-Arabian horses that regularly compete in endurance riding.
Sattel & Zaum:
