These trail rides are taking you to the far south of Germany - welcome to the Southern Black Forest Nature Park!
Ride to the source of the Danube at the European watershed and experience the diversity of the Black Forest. Steep mountains, wide plateaus, forests and lakes make an ideal riding area! Experience the famous towns of Titisee-Neustadt, Lenzkirch and St. Märgen, the home of the Black Forest foxes. Typical Black Forest farms line your route. Via Furtwangen, the route takes you to the headwaters of the Danube, Brigach and Breg with views as far as the Feldberg. Overnight stays are in hotels, riding stables and rustic inns where you can enjoy the regional cuisine.

Itinerary

Black Forest Trail (7 days/6 nights):

Day 1: Individual arrival from 4 pm off at the Black Forest Farm, idyllically situated in the middle of a small forest clearing. You will spend the night there in individually furnished, cosy guest rooms. Our partner has furnished them individually and with great attention to detail. From the rooms and from the terrace you have a wonderful view over the landscape and can peacefully watch the horses graze on the lush meadows. During dinner (around 7pm) you will get to know the group and discuss the trail.

Day 2: After breakfast you will take care of your horse. A first approx. 3-hour ride to get to know your horse and to explore the beautiful landscape of the southern Black Forest. You cross the Brändbach, a truly idyllic setting. Overnight stay in an inn in rustic Black Forest style.

Day 3: After breakfast you start todays ride and pass the Kalten Herberge at 1030 m, at the highest point of the Urachtal valley, in beautiful undulating terrain, alternating with forest and meadow. The view stretches as far as the Feldberg. After lunch, you are heading to the Brendturm tower near Furtwangen. At an altitude of 1150 m, a unique panorama awaits you.

Day 4: Today's ride takes you from source to source. First you reach the source of the Elz, which later flows into the Rhine and thus ends in the North Sea. You then cross the European watershed and reach the source of the Danube (Bregquelle), whose water flows into the Black sea.

Day 5: You follow the Breg along the old railroad line, where you can enjoy a wonderful gallop. The last overnight stay gives you a fantastic view of the Swiss Alps.

Day 6: The last day of riding takes you once again via hill back to the stable, which we reach in the afternoon. Over dinner together, you can review your experiences over a glass of wine and bring the week to a close.

Day 7: Individual departure after breakfast. Before you start your journey home, you can take a stroll through the beautiful old town of Bräunlingen or visit a brine bath in the nearby surroundings - just as you like!


Schluchsee Trail (8 days/6 riding days)

Day 1: Arrival from 4 pm, dinner with trail briefing at 7 pm.

Day 2: After breakfast, you set off in the direction of Wutach. After a wonderful day's riding, you will reach the first trail riding station. A delicious dinner awaits you here.

Day 3: We set off after breakfast. First you cross the Wutach and reach the Riesenbühl tower for a lunch break. From there you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Schluchsee. Your overnight accommodation is a rustic Black Forest inn.

Day 4:You start today's ride on the southern shore of the Schluchsee, to ride along the entire length of the lake and stop off in the Bärental valley. The route continues to the foot of the Feldberg, where you will reach a very simple but welcoming accommodation.

Day 5: Today you will go on a circular ride and return in the afternoon. Afterwards there is enough time to take a dip in the private natural pond, or for a coffee break with cake.

Day 6: You to ride towards Titisee, where you cross the lively shopping street on horseback (among all the tourists). Cuckoo clocks, schnapps, honey, carvings etc. are on display in the souvenir stores and the Black Forest gateau is a must in the cafés. You follow the Gutach, the outflow of Lake Titisee, to Neustadt. Once you have climbed the last steep hill , you will reach your overnight destination. 

Day 7:Riding through mossy forests on the last day of riding. You wouldn't be surprised to meet elves here. In the evening you reach the home stable. Over dinner together, you can review your experiences with a glass of wine and bring the week to a close.

Day 8: Individual departure after breakfast

3-day trail (4 days/3 riding days)

Day 1: Arrival from 4 pm, dinner with trail briefing at 7 pm.

Day 2: After breakfast, groom and to tack up your horse. Ride off in the direction of the trail riding station. The trail takes you past streams through the idyllic Black Forest. You ride forward at a brisk pace. You will spend your lunch break in a forest clearing with a picnic. Once you arrive at your evening destination, you will look after your horse. After checking into your room, a delicious dinner awaits you.

Day 3: On the second day of riding, you set off on a beautiful tour through the Black Forest. You will arrive at your accommodation in the evening, where horses and riders can rest for the night.

Day 4: After breakfast, we set off in the direction of the stable. The route is magnificent with viewpoints over the green mountain landscape. Sweeping black forest farms and cattle pastures line the route. Individual departure on return (from approx. 16.30)

4-day trail (5 days/4 riding days)

Day 1: Arrival from 4 pm, dinner with trail briefing at 7 pm.

2nd day to 5th day: Riding is as described under the 3-day ride, but one day longer.

Accomodation

Schwarzwaldtrail and Schluchseetrail you spend the first and last night in the Behabühl guesthouse. 
For the short trail 3 and 4 days, the first overnight stay is always at Behabühl.
The family-run guest house is idyllically situated in the middle of the southern Black Forest. A small forest stream meanders past the spacious pastures and the Feldberg mountain is not far away.

You will spend the night in stylishly furnished, cozy guest rooms with shower/WC. The hosts have furnished them individually and with great attention to detail. You can also use the free W-Lan. From the rooms and the terrace you have a wonderful view over the countryside and can watch the horses grazing peacefully in the lush meadows. A common room with a reading corner is available for sociable evenings. An ideal place to relax!

The remaining nights are spent in beautiful and quaint guesthouses or hotels in the middle of typical Black Forest towns, each of which is on your route and has its own charm. In some of the riding stables you will have to share a shower/WC.

Experience: Comfortable in all gaits from approx. 5 years riding experience.
Rider weight max. 85kg, upon request up to 90kg.

Horses: App. 10 horses: Warmbloods, Arabians, Paint Horses and Lewitzer.
