This Riding tour takes you through remote landscapes between Rio Grande dol Sul and Santa Catarina. The area is known for its deep canyons, which run through gigantic rock faces. The canyons are not located in an arid area like most on earth, but in a region full of lush forests and meadows. The most famous of the canyons in the Aparados da Serra National Park is the 5.8 km long, 720 m deep and 200 m wide Itaimbézinho, the largest canyon in South America. Its name comes from the Guarani Indians and means cut stone. which describes the landscape perfectly. The edge of the Itaimbézinho overlooks endless golden fields.
During your ride, you are surrounded by undulating fields that are broken by a series of suddenly towering rocky peaks up to 900 meters high. You follow the trails to Serra do Rio do Rastro in Santa Catarina, a place of extraordinary beauty, from where you overlook the gigantic forests and mountain meadows of the plain, as well as narrow gorges and jagged rock faces. Seen from above, the plateau has the shape of a snake.

Itinerary

Day 1: Your starting point is a Ranch near the Fortaleza Canyon and the Aparados da Serra National Park. You reach Lodge via the mountain range between Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. Your accommodation is rustic and has the charm of a country house.

Day 2: You drive to Cabana Fortaleza, where you meet the horses. Early in the morning you set off on your ride through the impressive landscape towards the Serra do Rio do Rastro. You ride pass a waterfall on the way to a comfortable mountain ranch where you spend the night.

Day 3: An extraordinary adventure awaits you today as you cross the Pico do Monte Negro, at 1,403 m the highest point in Rio Grande do Sul. At this altitude, with a fabulously beautiful view over the majestic landscape, you will enjoy a feeling of incredible freedom. You will spend the night at Ranch.

Day 4: On today´s ride you will visit the monumental rocky peaks of the Aparados da Serra, the sight of which is a very special natural experience.
