This 8-day tour is a shorter version of our "Coast to Coast" program. The program offers four days of intensive riding and exploring the most beautiful areas of Costa Rica, including contrasting landscapes, rural communities and impressive habitats with abundant wildlife. During this adventure to ride you will ride through dramatic canyons towards the dry Pacific coast with its volcanic sandy beaches. The tour then continues towards the Template Mountain slopes, through forested valleys and ends with two days of relaxation at one of Costa Rica's most popular destinations - the Arenal Volcano, where you can enjoy the volcano's hot springs.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at San José airport and transfer to the nearby hotel. Overnight stay in San José.

Day 2: Introductory ride (approx. 3 hours at saddle). Morning transfer to Ranch, which is located on the banks of the Trinidad River. After distributing the horses and a short briefing, you set off in the direction of Hacienda Maravilla. hill and fields alternate with forests along the Cuarros River, where you are sure to encounter some wild animals. You cross the river several times and finally reach the foothills of the Hacienda. You will spend the next three nights here. The remoteness of Hacienda gives you a good impression of rural life in Costa Rica.

Day 3: Pacific coast ride (approx. 5-6 hours at saddle). Today's ride takes you to the Pacific coast. You follow old dirt roads that lead to Tivives Crag to lead. It was from here that the Spanish conquered the central Pacific region around 1561! You cross the mangrove swamps of Cascajalillo and ride along the coast. Depending on the tides, lunch awaits you in a small café, as a picnic on the beach or on the Hacienda Maravilla. The way back also depends on the tides. You ride either head towards Cuevas Crag with wonderful views of the Pacific or along the beach towards Guacalillo Beach and along a country road back to Hacienda.

Day 4: La Mariana and the hinterland (approx. 3-6 hours at saddle). This morning you will explore the huge Hacienda area. The landscape is mainly flat or slightly hilly, but there are also idyllic, wooded valleys. From the higher points there are magnificent views of the Pacific and you may even spot some of the wildlife that lives here. Return to Hacienda for lunch. In the afternoon - if you wish - take another ride into the southern part of Hacienda. You ride to a viewpoint from where you can watch the sunset over the sea .

Day 5: Ride through the Machuca River Canyon (approx. 4-5 hours at saddle). You cross the village Cascajal and ride into the region where the Machuca Canyon widens and merges into the plains. The countryside is very fertile here and many melons are grown. In the afternoon, drive north (3.5 hours transfer) to the vicinity of the Arenal volcano, which last erupted in 1968 and is still one of the most active volcanoes on earth today. Overnight stay in Arenal.

Day 6: Nature hike at the foot of the Arenal volcano and visit to the thermo-mineral hot water springs. This morning you will be picked up and taken to the El Silencio farm at the foot of the Arenal volcano. You will go on a 2 ½ hour guided nature walk to the Arenal volcano and the viewpoint. As you walk through the forest , you will have the opportunity to see 3 species of monkeys, sloths and a variety of birds, including the toucan. The hike ends with a refreshing drink. If the sky is clear, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the most active volcano in Costa Rica, which has been continuously active since 1968. Later, enjoy free time at the beautiful Arenal hot springs and gardens - an excellent complement to your horseback riding adventure!

Day 7: Free Morning and afternoon. This morning is free for you to relax, enjoy the pool or book one of the optional adventures. Arenal is a true paradise for adventure lovers and offers great opportunities for exciting adventures that perfectly complement your riding vacation! From skytrek (zipline) and streetcar tour; canyoning; canoeing; mountain biking or kayaking on Lake Arenal. All of these adventures are available at an additional cost and can be booked in advance to guarantee your place. In the afternoon, around 1 pm, you will take a shuttle transfer to your hotel in San Jose. Overnight stay in San Jose.

Day 8: Transfer to San Jose airport and journey home.
