Beschreibung & Reiseverlauf
Explore the Tswehe Wilderness Reserve along the Limpopo River and get up close to Botswana's numerous wild animals. On horseback, you can move naturally between elephants, zebras, buffalo, wildebeest and antelopes during your wilderness trail. Predators such as hyenas, leopards and lions are also at home in the 11,000-hectare reserve. Hippos and crocodiles also live in the Limpopo. For birdwatchers, the area offers the best conditions for observing around 400 different species. In the Tuli region, you will get to know the life of the locals in typical villages. Enjoy the simple life under the stars in one of Botswana's wildest regions.
This ride is suitable for anyone who loves adventure and is looking for a break in nature. The daily stages can be very long and you are sure to reach your limits at times. Our partners have ridden for months throughout South Africa themselves and are therefore real experts in adventure riding through Africa. The aim of the trip is for you to get to know the countryside and its two-legged inhabitants in addition to experiencing nature and observing animals. Leave your wristwatches at home and live the rhythm of nature! There is no fixed daily routine, every trail is unique.
Reiseverlauf
Day 1: Arrival at the airport and transfer to the Tswehe Wilderness Reserve. In the afternoon there will be an introduction to the program for the coming days and a short ride to get to know the horses. Overnight stay at the Rustic Horse Camp.
2nd - 7th day: You ride along the Limpopo River, deep into the Tswehe Wilderness Reserve. On your way you will encounter famous wild animals such as elephants, zebras, antelopes, exotic birds and many more. The terrain of your trail ride will be technically challenging, but there will always be open areas for a brisk trot or canter. Due to your independent way of traveling, the camps can be set up in ed and particularly remote locations. Here you can experience the wilderness of the Tswehe Reserve up close! You will gain an authentic insight into the typical way of life in Botswana during visits to typical villages. Here you will stay with local families, giving you a unique insight into local life. Prepare yourself for long riding days at saddle, the journey is the reward!
Day 8: Today you return to camp. In the evening, you will reflect on your experiences as a group around a cozy campfire before enjoying a farewell dinner together in the middle of the wilderness.
Day 9: Breakfast and transfer back to the airport.

Unterkunft
You will spend two nights in a beautiful safari camp in the nature reserve. On the way, you will spend the night in a simple tented camp and, if possible, 1-2 times with locals. Each trail is unique and offers a certain amount of flexibility.
Pferde, Reiten & Zaumzeug
Pferde:
The horses are well-trained trail horses. They are used to the wilderness of Botswana and are sure-footed in technical terrain. Despite their calm disposition, they have a healthy forward drive.
Sattel & Zaum:
Barefoot saddles and bitless bridles (partly knotted halter)
Reiterfahrung: You must have advanced riding and trail riding experience and be comfortable in the saddle in all gaits. Lively gallops and technically demanding terrain should not cause you any difficulties. During the trail ride, you will spend most of the day at saddle. No rider under the age of 18, rider weight: maximum 85 kg.
