The family-run equestrian farm is located on the southwest coast of Portugal and attracts with 3000 hours of sunshine per year. Nestled in the Parque Natural Costa Vicentina e Sudoeste Alentejo, it offers numerous possibilities for excursions. Many small beaches and fishing villages attract as well as the impressive steep coast and the hilly hinterland. An ideal riding area: mainly in the dune landscape directly at the Atlantic Ocean, numerous sandy paths attract and outside the bathing season (mid June to end of September) you can also ride on the beach. But also the hinterland with its cork oak, pine and eucalyptus forests invites you to go horseback riding. At the farm there is also a small reservoir where you can go fishing or pedalo. There is also a barbecue area and several, partly covered, outdoor seating areas and some sun loungers are at your disposal. Also accompanying non-riders don´t miss out: in Milfontes there are water sports possibilities (surfing, surfing), a bicycle rental and the rota Vicentina offers wonderful hiking trails and everything away from mass tourism, a small equestrian paradise. We recommend a rental car to be able to use the various excursion and leisure possibilities flexibly.

Itinerary

Riding programs:
A ion of about 15 horses is available for the guests. All of them are very sociable and well-balanced and beginners as well as advanced riders get their money´s worth. The riding instructors speak both German and English and give lessons to beginners and lead the rides in the beautiful surroundings. Various additional trainings like Natural Horsemanship, Curative Riding for Children and many more qualify the instructors.
Besides the horses, dogs, cats, goats, rabbits and various poultry romp around on the farm.

Riding program:
Rides for advanced and experienced riders: on 6 riding days you will ride in the countryside for about 2 hours each (total: 12 hours). Especially recommended in summer, if you still want to take time for swimming or excursions. Enjoy the rides along the coast or through pine and eucalyptus forests. The landscape and the mild Atlantic climate attract horseback riding all year round. If you would like to do more horseback riding, you can book an additional 12 hours and thus explore the landscape on horseback for 4 hours a day. Outside the bathing season you can also ride to the sea and the beach.

Beginner´s program:
Basic riding lessons. 6 riding days with lessons and some theory, also on the lunge. This programme is aimed at beginners, anxious riders, re-starters and riders with little riding experience and is offered for both children and adults. You ride on well trained horses or ponies.

German, English and Portuguese are spoken here.

The beginning of a strong relationship between man and horse

Part 1 is about security and communication. To develop respect and trust of the horse during ground work and to develop a common language with the horse.

The 2nd part is about respect and trust when riding. To learn knowledge and skills in riding with horsemanship and riding without constant rein contact.

In the 3rd part there are two 2-hour rides for the experienced riders, for beginners or more fearful riders there are quiet strides through our beautiful dune landscape.

The course is suitable for all those who want to acquire knowledge about Natural Horsemanship in order to be able to use this knowledge when handling their own horse.
For newcomers as well as to refresh your horsemanship knowledge. Also beginners and re-starters, no matter what riding style, are in good hands here. The participation takes place with one of our teaching horses. Price: 960 EUR per person in double room with breakfast, accommodation and horsemanship course (2-6 persons).

Accomodation
You live in a Portuguese style Quinta. The guest area is on the first floor and offers 4 double rooms, two large bathrooms, a living room with TV, a breakfast room with refrigerator, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and roof terrace. For the winter there is an electric or gas heating available. Breakfast is included in the price, half or full board can be booked (Portuguese cuisine, meat or fish from the grill, according to the guests´ wishes). If you want to cater for yourself, you can use the kitchen, which is fully equipped especially for guests (incl. oven, microwave, stove etc.). Supermarkets and also several restaurants for every taste are located in the nearby village of Milfontes.

Saddle & Tack: English saddles and bridles. Some Western saddles available, only on request.

Experience: Beginners (max. 80kg) to advanced riders (max. 85kg). Comfortable in all gaits required for the hacks.

Horses: Lusitanos, Cruzados, Haflinger with a height between 1,45-1,58 m
