Unser Tipp

Enjoy a fresh sea breeze on enduring horses galloping along the beach!

Beschreibung & Reiseverlauf

Our partner leads this sporty ride through the beautiful coastal region in Brittany. Experience France on reliable and well trained endurance riding horses. Smooth rides in combination with nature, culture and history and of course French cuisine!
Even the Gauls called Brittany Land Aremorica, which means land by the sea. Endless long coastlines and the sea characterize this region. Situated in the north-west, it is the largest peninsula in France. Sea, a fresh breeze, mild climate and over 2000 hours of sunshine make Brittany an ideal riding area. Ride through the beautiful nature and explore the unique (coastal) places. So some of them are your overnight destinations. Take the opportunity to go for an evening walk in places like Erquy or Binic and let a Breton sea breeze blow around your nose.

With incredibly persevering and trained horses, you will gallop long distances as you will rarely find. But don´t worry: our customers are not professionals and only ride in their free time! An important prerequisite is the safety in the terrain in all gaits.

Reiseverlauf

Day 1: Arrival at Saint Samson sur Rance, a beautiful village situated on the river Rance. A collective transfer from Saint Malo station is possible at 19.00 hrs. From 16.00 hrs, car arrivals can arrive at the Beauséjour accommodation. There you will get to know your fellow riders and discuss the upcoming riding tour over dinner.

Day 2: Departure from Saint Samson sur Rance to the finish of the day in Pleslin Trigavou. You will ride along the Rance River, which meanders leisurely through the landscape. The lunch break is idyllic and close to the banks and of course in French style: aperitif, starter, main course, cheese platter and coffee/tea with something sweet for dessert. Then the horses are saddled again and you ride further north to the day´s destination in Pleslin Trigavou. With a glass of cider you can end the first riding day comfortably. (Stage approx. 35 km).

Day 3: After a typical French breakfast, you will ride today to Saint Cast le Guildo, a village by the sea. The ride takes you today to the Breton coast and the sea. In the afternoon you will arrive at the charming Hotel Matignon near the harbour on enduring horses. For dinner you can enjoy the typical Breton cuisine: for example fish and seafood as well as galettes and crêpes. Accompanied by a glass of cider. (Stage approx. 39 km).

Day 4: Today´s ride takes you as far as Erquy. Experience the rugged nature at Cap Fréhel: the headland on the Côte de Émeraude forms the northernmost point of a promontory that juts into the Gulf of Saint-Malo. Admire the multicoloured cliffs of reddish sandstone, black slate and the famous pink granite. Up to a height of 70 m and steeply sloping, they are a special natural spectacle. Especially in spring, countless flowers such as wild hyacinths, daffodils and carnations bloom on the meadows that form the roof of the cliff. The Cap Fréhel is also a bird sanctuary, which is home to several breeding birds. If you are lucky, you will see some of them: herring gulls, oystercatchers, herring gulls, kittiwakes, puffins and fulmars. Two lighthouses complete the picture. Enjoy the gallops on the well trained horses until you reach the coastal town of Erquy. This has ten fine sandy beaches in the immediate vicinity, which invite you to go for a walk. Overnight stay in a comfortable gite. (Stage approx. 35 km).

Day 5: Today you will ride from Erquy on horseback to the village of Hillion, which lies directly on the sea. A brisk ride along the coast, the sea is your constant companion today.
Afterwards you will ride to Hillion at the bay of Saint Brieuc. In this bay, which is partly declared a nature reserve, many bird species and a diverse fauna find their home.
The Hotel au Bon Saint Nicolas awaits you for dinner and overnight stay (stage approx. 42 km).

Day 6: After breakfast, the horses are saddled and off we go: another eventful day is waiting for us. You follow the coast and (depending on the tides) can ride through the bay of Saint Brieuc. Let the wind blow around your nose while galloping and enjoy the views of the sea. Even the well trained and fit horses enjoy the gallops through the coastal landscape of Brittany.
At the end you will reach Binic, another coastal town with harbour. Take the opportunity to take a short walk to the harbour where you can watch cormorants before a French dinner is waiting for you. Overnight stay at the Brit Hotel-Galion. (Stage about 40 km).

Day 7: From Binic you will go today to Lanloup. Both a little more inland and close to the coast you ride fast forward until lunch break. Typical French dishes are served, accompanied by a glass of wine, wonderfully French! Afterwards you will ride strengthened to Lanloup, a charming place with a long history.
Then it is time to say goodbye. A collective transfer to the station in Saint Brieux is possible.
(stage approx. 35 km).

If you wish, you can extend your holiday individually. An extra night can be organized so that the journey home would be one day later after breakfast.

Subject to change due to unforseeable incidents such as weather conditions.
