Deluxe Mountain Trek (7 days)
Given today's fast paced world, many people search for holiday spots with a slower and more relaxed approach to life. It is exactly for such people that we introduce this new progressive riding tour to our clients. Situated in New Zealand, 85 miles north of Christchurch, in a remote river valley at the foot of two mountain ranges, we offer a taste of the carefree life in spectacular surroundings. There are no noisy distractions, crowds or deadlines to meet here. Instead, forgotten pleasures such as big skies and wide-open spaces, crisp clean mountain air, lively conversations enjoyed in deep armchairs in front of open fires, and warm hospitality for small, intimate groups abound.
In preparation for your ride there are some things you must know that might be different from other riding trips you have taken:
We have a theme of natural horsemanship that is integral with our trekking, so we ride in natural rope halters. You have a warm up afternoon to learn about your horse and how to communicate with them using these halters. WE LEAD OUR HORSES DOWN STEEP TERRAIN, which is in keeping with the high country mustering traditions of the area, so make sure you have footwear suitable for riding and walking.
This trail takes us along the foothills of the huge Amuri Range criss crossing it until finally arriving at Hanmer Springs, famous for its natural hot pools. We will ride from Homestead to homestead to give you a feel for the high country farming tradition famous in New Zealand's back country. We pass through 11 working farms beginning at 1500 feet at Mt Lyford and riding as high as 2,500.
Join us on a luxury horse trek in the beautiful Alpine Pacific region of the South Island and days spent riding through the South Island’s stunning high country.
